FRESH SALMON & SEA-TROUT
Its been a really enjoyable and encouraging week at East Ranga. Fresh fish still running in numbers and populating the middle and upper river particularly, and great sessions for fishers on various beats ensuring the after fishing bar conversation is high spirited.
This has also been very much a family oriented period, with multiple generations of families from the UK, Denmark and elsewhere enjoying really high quality sport together….and not bad weather either which makes for sociable bankside hours and lunches outside on the veranda.
It is also good to see some really high quality sea trout running the river, which used to be Iceland’s most prolific wild sea trout river before the big Hekla eruption in the middle of last century all but wiped them out of the main river (thankfully not the Fiska tributary.)
All in all an enjoyable way to move into late summer / early Autumn.
